Just read "1,000 Acres" a few months ago, It was like seeing the back of my hand, over and over, I grew up too long ago on the plains of Wyoming, so it wasn't a long view to see all that 1,000 holds for the man who falls in love too easily. Such a resonant book that took back to the time before. Thanks for the reminder...

I endorse Running in the Family as the best Ondaatje, very closely followed by Billy the Kid/ Coming Through Slaughter. I re-read Running in the Family all the time and try to imagine it's what my father's Indian missionary family could have been like if only, if only. Instead they were serious Believers (capital B believers).
